American Legion Riders Post 327
November  17,  2016

The November 17, 2016 meeting of the Post 327 American Legion Riders was called to order by the Directpr Keith DeLucenay at 1830. Members conducted the Pledge of Allegiance.

1. PRAYER: David Seate offered prayer.

2. MINUTES: The minutes from the last meeting are posted on the webpage.

3. TREASURY REPORT: The Treasurer, David Seate, read the Treasurers report. Beginning balance of $5,353.20 and an ending Balance of $5,394.20. The Treasurers report was approved as read.


5. GUEST SPEAKER: No guest speaker


a. John O Grady Funeral Service, Memorial Saturday October 22nd at Hollaman Brown Lyhnnhaven Chapel, 1100-1300. Meet at the Legion KSU at 1030 Saturday.
b. Discussed the Marine Corp Birthday. Bob is going.
c. Bob suggested a ride to Edenton NC on Saturday October 29th. KSU at 1000. We will do lunch at Nothin Fancy Café.
d. Veterans Day Parade is coming up. Email to follow with details.
e. Discussed Bob’s sky dive adventure on Saturday October 15, 2016. Bob says he has a new hobby. Pictures are available on the Combat Wounded Coalition facebook page.
f. All are invited to the PGR Christmas party Tuesday December 6, at 1800 at Captain Georges. Jason Redman will be the guest speaker. Voted to spend $360 to sponsor the dinner.
g. Ray’s 50th Anniversary is November 5th at 1400-1500 at 5533 Odessa Drive, Virginia Beach.
h. Discussed Bingo in Hampton VA Hospital. Voted to donate $25 a month for the games.
i. Discussed a group called Troupster who provide military care packages to deployed service members. They are based out of Virginia Beach. Voted to spend $250 for 25 care packages. There is a care package assembly night November 18, 2016. Bob Perkins has details for anyone who wants to attend.
j. Discussed N22 project poker run. They are thinking about starting at post 327 with a breakfast. We would need 6 to 8 helpers at a minimum. More details will be put out by Paul at our next meeting. Tentative date for the run is in March.
k. New business topic

7. BREAK: Short break was observed.

a. Discussed Paul Murch conducting a Concealed Weapons class last Sunday. He raised $120 for us. He plans to do another one in the future.
b. Discussed Wreaths Across America. The Commisary at Oceana is taking donations for wreaths Saturday December 17th. Each wreath costs $15. Voted to donate $300.
c. John O’Grady will be interned at Alrlington Cemetary, March 20, 2017.
d. Troupsters will be at Slover Library, downtown Norfolk, putting together care packages from 1200 to 1800.
e. Received a Thank You card from USMC Heritage Foundation for our donation.
f. Discussed interest in a ALR327 Christmas Dinner. A date and location will be chosen and an email with details will be sent out.
g. Looking for interest in a ride Saturday.
h. Discussed the annual Valentine VA ride.
i. Hollywood is going through Lake Taylor Rehab center recovering from multiple knee surgeries.
j. Discussed contributing a $500 to yard care for a veteran named Jon
k. Discussed giving $200 to Vietnam Vets (VVA CH 48) for Christmas gifts for a USMC Veteran’s family with two kids. Voted to help with the expenses.
l. Discussed ALR327 helping two more families. We will identify two families in need.
m. Ice Cream Social for Honor Flight 1400-1500, Lutheran Church on Tidewater Drive. Sunday November 20.
n. Discussed seeing an I off Saturday. Nogger has details if you are interested.
o. There will be no December meeting. If we do have a Christmas dinner we can discuss some things then.

9. SAFETY BRIEF: No safety brief was conducted

10. RAFFLE DRAWING: No raffle drawing.
